Along a body diagonal, one octahedral void (at the body centre), 2 tetrahedral voids (one almost between each corner and the body centre) and 2 corner atoms are present.number of octahedral voids in FCC unit cell = 4number of tetrahedral voids = 8Number of Y atoms left = 4-1 = 3Number of Z atoms left = 8-2 = 6Number of X atoms left = (1/2)×6 [for face centre atoms] + (1/8)×(8-2) [for corner atoms] = 3 + 3/4 = 15/4Therefore, formula of compound is X15/4Y3Z6 = X5Y4Z8?
