An isobaric expansion of a gas requires heat transfer to keep the pressure constant. An isochoric process is one in which the volume is held constant, meaning that the work done by the system will be zero.

Explanation:

When a gas expands, it can do so in different ways, such as adiabatically, isochorically, isothermally, or isobarically. However, the minimum work is said to be done when a gas expands isochorically.

Isochoric Process:

An isochoric process, also known as a constant volume process, occurs when the volume of the system remains constant while energy is transferred to or from the system as heat or work. In other words, no work is done because the volume does not change.

Work Done in Isochoric Process:

In an isochoric process, the work done is given by the formula:

W = PΔV

Since the volume remains constant, ΔV = 0. Therefore, the work done is zero.

Hence, the minimum work is said to be done when a gas expands isochorically because no work is done in this process.
