Calculating Median and Mode


Finding the Median:

• Arrange the data in ascending order: 15, 25, 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85
• Calculate the total frequency: 5 + 9 + 13 + 21 + 20 + 15 + 8 + 3 = 94
• Since the total frequency is even (94), the median will be the average of the two middle values.
• The middle values are the 47th and 48th values in the ordered list, which are 55 and 65.
• Therefore, the median = (55 + 65) / 2 = 60.
Finding the Mode:

• Group the data into intervals:
- 10-20: 5
- 20-30: 9
- 30-40: 13
- 40-50: 21
- 50-60: 20
- 60-70: 15
- 70-80: 8
- 80-90: 3
• The interval with the highest frequency is 40-50 with a frequency of 21.
• Therefore, the mode of the data is 40-50.
