James mill periodisation was not accepted as it showed only the characters of the rulers , their life etc. if it would have been accepted then there would be an ignorance towards the life of common people at that time . The periodisation was done as: hindu, muslim, british. There was one more problem for what it could not be divided like that because religion as a rule could not be chosen and if it would have been accepted then the rulers of other religions would get inferior.

In 1817 James mill offered a highly sustainable periodization but unfortunately his periodization came to be a great failure he stated that Hindu Muslim British Now u can just name the period by looking at the religion of the rulers at that time..They need a proper periodization but James mill can't offer that so his periodization was full of failure.
