When balanced forces act on a body, the body:

  • a)
must remain in its state of rest

  • b)
must continue moving with uniform velocity, if already in motion

  • c)
    must experience some acceleration

  • d)
    both (A) and (B)

Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?
Verified Answer
When balanced forces act on a body, the body:a)must remain in its stat...
Forces are said to be balanced when two equal and opposite forces acts on an object which makes net force to be zero. Balanced forces are acting means object will be rest. When unbalanced forces are acting on object it starts moving in the direction of force. Example a book kept on table has two forces gravitational force acting downwards and normal force acting upwards. As two forces are equal and opposite the net force will be zero and object remains at rest. and if resultant force is zero the object would be moving with uniform acceleration as there would be no acceleration

So option D is correct

When balanced forces act on a body, the body:a)must remain in its stat...
Balanced Forces and Body's Motion

When two or more forces act on a body, the net force acting on the body is the vector sum of all the individual forces. If the net force acting on a body is zero, then the forces are said to be balanced forces.

Effects of balanced forces on a body are:

1. Body remains at rest:
If a body is at rest and balanced forces act on it, then the body will remain at rest. In this case, the net force acting on the body is zero, so the body will not move.

2. Body moves with uniform velocity:
If a body is already in motion and balanced forces act on it, then the body will continue to move with uniform velocity. In this case, the net force acting on the body is zero, so the body will not accelerate or decelerate.

3. Body experiences no acceleration:
If a body is acted upon by balanced forces, then the body will experience no acceleration. This is because the net force acting on the body is zero, so the body's motion will remain unchanged.

Conclusion:
When balanced forces act on a body, the body will either remain at rest or move with uniform velocity if it is already in motion. The body will experience no acceleration in either case.
