Problem:

300 is divided into two parts in such a way that half of one part is less than the other by 48. Find out the parts?


Solution:

Let the two parts be x and y.

So, x + y = 300 (as the total sum of two parts is 300)

Also, (x/2) - 48 = y/2 (as half of one part is less than the other by 48)

Multiplying the above equation by 2, we get:

x - 96 = y

Substituting the value of y in the first equation, we get:

x + x - 96 = 300

2x = 396

x = 198

So, y = 300 - x = 300 - 198 = 102


Answer:

The two parts are 198 and 102.
