Problem: Find the ratio of time taken by the two bodies A and B of mass 1kg and 3kg respectively, dropped from heights of 16m and 25m respectively.

Solution:

We know that the time taken by a body to fall from a certain height is given by the formula:

t = √(2h/g)

where t is time, h is height, and g is acceleration due to gravity (9.8 m/s²).

For Body A:

Given, h = 16m and m = 1kg

Using the formula, we get:

t(A) = √(2*16/9.8)
= √(32/9.8)
= 2*√(2/9.8)
= 2*√(20/98)
= 2*√(10/49)
= 2*√(10)/7

For Body B:

Given, h = 25m and m = 3kg

Using the formula, we get:

t(B) = √(2*25/9.8)
= √(50/9.8)
= 2*√(50/98)
= 2*√(25/49)
= 2*√(25)/7
= 10/7

Ratio of time taken:

So, the ratio of time taken by Body A and Body B is:

t(A)/t(B) = (2*√(10)/7)/(10/7)
= 2/5

Therefore, the required ratio is 2:5.
