Not all Elections Equal Democracy


Just because a government holds an election, it does not necessarily mean that the country is a democracy. Elections are just one component of a democratic system, and there are several other factors that need to be in place for a country to truly be considered a democracy.


Free and Fair Elections


A democratic election must be free and fair. This means that citizens must have the right to vote without fear of persecution or intimidation, and that the election must be conducted in an impartial and unbiased manner. If a government is suppressing opposition parties or candidates, or if the election is rigged in some way, then it cannot be considered a democracy.


Civil Liberties


A democracy also requires that citizens have certain civil liberties, such as freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of assembly. If the government is suppressing these freedoms, then it cannot be considered a democracy. Citizens must be able to express their opinions and organize peaceful demonstrations without fear of retribution.


Rule of Law


A democratic system requires that there is rule of law, which means that all citizens are subject to the same laws and are treated equally under the law. If the government is corrupt or if the laws are selectively applied, then it cannot be considered a democracy. A true democracy requires that there is accountability for those in power.


Civilian Control of the Military


In a democracy, the military must be under the control of civilian leaders. If the military is in control of the government, then it cannot be considered a democracy. Citizens must have a say in how their country is governed, and the military cannot be allowed to override the will of the people.

We can only say a democratic government who works for the people not for himself .We can not say The government who works for himself not for people of country a democratic or the party of government who ruled at a long time also not called a democratic government .
