It was a war which was fought in year 1757 between british company and nawab of Bengal.

Siraj Ud Daulah. Was the nawab of Bengal. He opposed British's duty free trading and told them to stop minting coins and expanding fortifications. The British wanted a puppet ruler but not a ruler like Siraj Ud Daulah. So they started meddling in his political affairs and humiliating him. The furious nawab marched with 30000 soldiers to the English factory at Kazimbazaar. He captured English officials, locked warehouses and blockaded ships. Then he marched to Calcutta. Hearing the fall of Calcutta, company officials in Madras sent forces under Robert Clive. They fought a fierce battle in Plassey. It came to be known as the Battle of Plassey. It became so famous because it was the first major victory the British won in India.
