When electric current passes through a bulb, the filament of the bulb heats up to a high temperature. This is called heating effect of current. The temperature is so high that it starts glowing.

However, if the current through a circuit is weak, the filament does not get heated up sufficiently and it does not glow.

An electric lamp glows due toa)Chemical effectb)Magnetic effectc)Heati...
Explanation:
An electric lamp glows due to the heating effect of electric current. When an electric current passes through a filament in the lamp, the filament gets heated up and starts to glow.

Heating Effect of Electric Current:
When an electric current passes through a conductor, it generates heat due to the resistance offered by the conductor. This phenomenon is known as the heating effect of electric current.

Working of an Electric Lamp:
1. An electric lamp consists of a thin filament made of tungsten wire enclosed in a bulb filled with an inert gas (usually argon or nitrogen).
2. When an electric current is passed through the filament, the filament offers resistance to the flow of electrons.
3. As a result, the filament gets heated up due to the conversion of electrical energy into heat energy.
4. The filament reaches a high temperature and starts to glow, producing light.

Comparison with other options:
a) Chemical effect: Chemical effect of electric current is observed when an electric current is passed through an electrolyte, causing a chemical reaction. It is not related to the glow of an electric lamp.
b) Magnetic effect: Magnetic effect of electric current is observed when an electric current produces a magnetic field. It is not related to the glow of an electric lamp.
d) None: This option is incorrect as the electric lamp glows due to the heating effect of electric current.

Conclusion:
The correct answer is option 'C' - Heating effect. The electric lamp glows because the electric current passing through the filament heats it up, causing it to emit light.
