Verified Answer
Calculate the amount of lime required to remove the hardness of 50000 ...
Final Answer : 3700 gram

Steps and Understanding :
1)
we know that,
10 litre of well water contains 1.62 gram of Calcium Bicarbonate .
=> 50,000 litre of well water contains 8100 Calcium Bicarbonate.
= > 1.62/10 X 50000 = 8100 gram

2) Molar Mass of Calcium Bicarbonate = 162g
Molar Mass of lime water, Ca(OH) 2 = 74g

According to reaction,
no. of moles of Ca(HCO3)2 = no. of moles of Ca(OH) 2
=> 8100/162 = m/74
= m = 74/162 x 8100
= m = 3700 graam

There Required mass of lime is 3700gram.
