The reasons for the failure of the Bohr model are ;
1) In Bohr model, an electron is regarded as a charged particle moving in different circular orbits about the nucleus .
2)The wave character of the electron is not considered in Bohr model .
3) Further, an Orbit is a clearly defined path and this path can completely be defined only if both the position and the velocity of the electron are known exactly at the same time .
4)This is not possible according to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle .
5)Bohr model of the hydrogen atom, therefore, not only ignores dual behaviour of matter but also contradicts Heisenberg uncertainty principle .

Reasons for the Failure of Bohr Model
- Classical Physics Assumptions: Bohr's model was based on classical physics principles which assumed that electrons revolve around the nucleus in a circular orbit like planets in a solar system. However, this assumption was flawed as electrons do not behave like classical objects and do not have a definite position and momentum at the same time.
- Violation of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle: Bohr's model violated Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle, which states that it is impossible to determine both the position and momentum of an electron simultaneously. Bohr's model assumed that electrons have a fixed position and momentum, which is not possible according to quantum mechanics.
- Quantum Mechanics: Bohr's model failed to account for the role of quantum mechanics, which governs the behavior of subatomic particles. Quantum mechanics shows that electrons are not confined to specific orbits but exist in probability clouds around the nucleus.
- Limitations: Bohr's model was limited to hydrogen-like atoms and failed to explain the behavior of atoms with more than one electron. It also did not account for the splitting of spectral lines in the presence of a magnetic field, known as the Zeeman effect.
- Subsequent Models: Subsequent models, such as the Schrödinger equation, provided a more accurate description of the behavior of electrons in atoms and replaced the Bohr model.
Overall, the failure of the Bohr model can be attributed to its reliance on classical physics principles and its inability to account for the behavior of electrons according to quantum mechanics. The subsequent development of more accurate models based on quantum mechanics led to the rejection of the Bohr model.
