    Compound

  • b)
    Heterogeneous solution

  • c)
    Element

  • d)
    Homogeneous solution

Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?

Salt water is a homogeneous mixture. Salt dissolves completely in water and dissociates in to sodium and chloride ions. The salt solution is clear and transparent and salt cannot be separated from water by filtration.

A solution of salt in water is a:a)Compoundb)Heterogeneous solutionc)E...
**Homogeneous Solution**

A solution is a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances. In a homogeneous solution, the solute particles are evenly distributed throughout the solvent, resulting in a uniform composition and appearance. A solution can be formed by dissolving a solid, liquid, or gas in a liquid solvent.

**Salt in Water Solution**

In the context of the given question, a solution of salt in water refers to the process of dissolving salt (solute) in water (solvent). When salt, which is composed of the ions sodium (Na+) and chloride (Cl-), is added to water, the water molecules surround and interact with the ions, causing them to separate and mix uniformly within the water. As a result, the salt particles become dispersed and evenly distributed throughout the water, forming a homogeneous solution.

**Characteristics of a Homogeneous Solution**

1. Uniform Composition: A homogeneous solution has a uniform distribution of solute particles throughout the solvent. In the case of a salt in water solution, the salt particles are evenly dispersed in the water, resulting in a uniform composition.

2. Transparent and Clear: Homogeneous solutions are usually transparent and clear, allowing light to pass through without scattering. When salt is dissolved in water, the resulting solution appears transparent.

3. Particles Not Visible: In a homogeneous solution, the solute particles are very small and not visible to the naked eye. Similarly, in a salt in water solution, the individual salt particles are too tiny to be seen.

4. Homogeneous Physical Properties: Homogeneous solutions exhibit the same physical properties throughout, such as density, boiling point, and freezing point. When salt is dissolved in water, the resulting solution has the same physical properties as pure water, such as its boiling point.

Based on these characteristics, a solution of salt in water is considered a homogeneous solution.

Yup bcoz when we make solution is salt by adding salt to water (solvent) then it dissolve in it completely...
and mixed with water throughoutly such that we can't differentiate to both....
the resulting solution has only one state that is liquid...
same phase throughout solution that's why it is called an Homogeneous (homo :same,,,,,,phase) Solution... ...
