Calculation of New Profit Sharing Ratio

Initial Profit Sharing Ratio

A and B are partners sharing profits in the ratio of 5:3. This means that A gets 5 parts of the profit and B gets 3 parts of the profit.

Therefore, the initial profit sharing ratio of A and B is:

  • A: 5 parts

  • B: 3 parts

Admission of C

C is admitted to the partnership for 1/4th share of future profits. This means that C will get 1 part out of the total 4 parts of the future profits.

New Profit Sharing Ratio

The new profit sharing ratio after the admission of C can be calculated as follows:

  • Total parts of profit sharing ratio = 5 + 3 + 4 = 12

  • New profit sharing ratio of A = (5/12) x 100% = 41.67%

  • New profit sharing ratio of B = (3/12) x 100% = 25%

  • New profit sharing ratio of C = (4/12) x 100% = 33.33%

Therefore, the new profit sharing ratio after the admission of C is:

  • A: 41.67%

  • B: 25%

  • C: 33.33%
