A stone falls from a balloon that is descending at a uniform rate of 1...
Given information:
- The balloon is descending at a uniform rate of 12 m/s.
- The stone is released from the balloon.

To find:
The displacement of the stone from the point of release after 10 seconds.

Approach:
1. Calculate the vertical distance covered by the balloon in 10 seconds.
2. As the stone falls freely, it will cover the same vertical distance.
3. The displacement of the stone will be negative as it is falling downward.
4. Subtract the vertical distance covered by the stone from the vertical distance covered by the balloon to find the displacement of the stone.

Calculation:
1. The vertical distance covered by the balloon in 10 seconds can be calculated using the formula:
Distance = Speed × Time
Distance = 12 m/s × 10 s
Distance = 120 m

2. As the stone falls freely, it will cover the same vertical distance (120 m) in 10 seconds.

3. The displacement of the stone will be negative as it is falling downward, so the displacement of the stone is -120 m.

4. However, the question asks for the displacement from the point of release, which means we need to consider the direction of the balloon's descent.

5. The displacement of the stone can be calculated by subtracting the vertical distance covered by the stone from the vertical distance covered by the balloon:
Displacement of the stone = Vertical distance covered by the balloon - Vertical distance covered by the stone
Displacement of the stone = 120 m - 120 m
Displacement of the stone = 0 m

Conclusion:
The displacement of the stone from the point of release after 10 seconds is 0 m. Therefore, none of the given options (a)-490m, b)-510m, c)-610m, d)-725m) are correct.

A stone falls from a balloon that is descending at a uniform rate of 1...
Let us take upward motion as positive axis and downward motion as negative axis. Then speed of balloon =-12m/s and g=-9.8m/s² since stones falls from balloon therefore initial velocity of balloon is also -12m/s now
u=-12m/s a=g=-9.8m/s² t=10s
s=ut+½at²
s=10×(-12)+½(-9.8)×10²
s= -120-490
s=-610 meter
