  • Distance from A to B: 4 km

  • Distance from B to C: 2 km

  • Total distance travelled: 4 km + 2 km = 6 km



Magnitude of displacement:

  • Displacement is the straight line distance between the initial and final positions.

  • Initial position: A

  • Final position: C

  • Displacement: AC



Calculating AC:

  • Distance from A to B: 4 km

  • Distance from B to C: 2 km

  • Total distance travelled from A to C: 4 km + 2 km = 6 km

  • As Ram returns back to B, the distance travelled from B to C is in the opposite direction to the initial direction of travel from A to B.

  • Therefore, we need to subtract the distance travelled from B to C from the total distance travelled to get the displacement.
