CELSIUS SCALE :
Anders Celsius invented Celsius scale of temperature.
In our daily life we generally use Celsius scale of temperature for measuring temperature. The common unit of measuring temperatures like melting point and boiling points is ‘degree Celsius’. Celsius is written in short form as degreeC. In Laboratory for performing science experiments we use laboratory thermometer which are calibrated in ‘degree celsius’. The clinical thermometer which we used for measuring the body temperature is calibrated on Celsius scale of temperature.

KELVIN SCALE:
Lord William Thomson Kelvin invented Kelvin scale of temperature.
This thermometer is used by the scientist mainly for research work. Kelvin is the SI unit for measuring temperature. It is denoted by the symbol K. Degree sign  is not written with the Kelvin scale temperature.

The relationship between Kelvin scale and Celsius scale of temperature can be written as :Temperature on kelvin scale =  Temperature on Celsius scale + 273

SOLUTION :
GIVEN: Boiling point of alcohol : 78degreeC
Temperature on kelvin scale =  Temperature on Celsius scale + 273
Temperature on kelvin scale = 78 +273
Temperature on kelvin scale = 351 K

Hence, temperature of 78degreeC on Celsius scale is equal to 351 K on the Kelvin scale.

Boiling Point of Alcohol in Celsius and Kelvin

To determine the corresponding temperature on the Kelvin scale for a given temperature in Celsius, the following steps need to be followed:

Step 1: Understand the Kelvin Scale
The Kelvin scale is an absolute temperature scale where 0 Kelvin (K) represents absolute zero, the point at which all molecular motion ceases. The Kelvin scale is based on the Celsius scale, but the Kelvin scale does not use negative values.

Step 2: Conversion Formula
To convert a temperature from Celsius (°C) to Kelvin (K), the following formula is used:
K = °C + 273.15

Step 3: Applying the Conversion Formula
In this case, the boiling point of alcohol is given as 78 degrees Celsius. To convert this temperature to Kelvin, we apply the conversion formula:
K = 78 + 273.15

Step 4: Calculating the Corresponding Temperature
By substituting the given Celsius temperature into the formula, we can evaluate the corresponding temperature in Kelvin:
K = 78 + 273.15
K ≈ 351.15

The corresponding temperature on the Kelvin scale for a boiling point of alcohol at 78 degrees Celsius is approximately 351.15 Kelvin.

Explanation:
The Kelvin scale is widely used in scientific fields because it directly relates to the kinetic energy of molecules. As temperature increases, the kinetic energy of molecules also increases. The Kelvin scale has no negative values and provides a more accurate representation of temperature.

To convert a temperature from Celsius to Kelvin, we add 273.15 to the Celsius value. This is because the Kelvin scale starts at absolute zero, which is 273.15 degrees Celsius below the freezing point of water.

In this case, the boiling point of alcohol is given as 78 degrees Celsius. By applying the conversion formula, we find that the corresponding temperature on the Kelvin scale is approximately 351.15 Kelvin. This means that at the boiling point of alcohol, the kinetic energy of its molecules is equivalent to 351.15 Kelvin on the Kelvin scale.

It is important to note that the Kelvin scale is used in scientific calculations and experiments where absolute temperature is required. The Celsius scale, on the other hand, is commonly used for everyday temperature measurements.
