Flame test is not given by 1.Ca 2.Ba 3.Mg 4.Li?
**Flame Test and its Principle:**

The flame test is a qualitative analytical technique used to determine the presence of certain metal ions in a compound. It is based on the principle that when a metal salt is heated in a flame, the metal ions in the salt emit characteristic colors. These colors are observed as a result of the electrons in the metal atoms being excited to higher energy levels and then returning to their ground state, releasing energy in the form of light.

**The Flame Test Results:**

1. **Calcium (Ca):** When a calcium salt is heated in a flame, it produces a brick-red color. The color is a result of the excitation and subsequent de-excitation of electrons in the calcium atoms.

2. **Barium (Ba):** Barium ions produce a green flame color when heated. This green color is a characteristic emission of barium atoms.

3. **Magnesium (Mg):** When magnesium salts are introduced into a flame, they produce a bright white light. This is because magnesium atoms emit light across a range of wavelengths, resulting in a white appearance.

4. **Lithium (Li):** Lithium salts typically give a deep red flame color. The red color arises due to the excitation and de-excitation of electrons in the lithium atoms.

**Explanation:**

Based on the flame test results, it is evident that the flame test is indeed given by calcium (Ca), barium (Ba), magnesium (Mg), and lithium (Li). Therefore, the statement provided in the question is incorrect.

The flame test is a widely used technique in analytical chemistry to identify and confirm the presence of specific metal ions in compounds. By observing the characteristic flame colors, chemists can determine the identity of the metal ion present in a given sample.

It is important to note that the flame test is not an absolute method for identification as some metal ions may exhibit similar colors. Therefore, the flame test is often combined with other analytical techniques to obtain accurate results.

In conclusion, the flame test is given by calcium, barium, magnesium, and lithium. Each of these metal ions produces a unique flame color that can be used to identify their presence in a compound.

Flame test is not given by 1.Ca 2.Ba 3.Mg 4.Li?
Mg or magnesium does not give flame test. On heating an alkali earth metal or its salt, the electrons are excited easily to higher energy levels because of absorption of energy. When these electrons return to their ground states, they emit extra energy in form of radiations which fall in the visible region thereby imparting a characteristic colour to the flame.
Mg does not impart any colour to the fame i.e. it does not give flame test. This is due to its very small size. This is also true for Ba.
