For an ellipse or hyperbola distance between foci = 2ae = √(19^2+5^2) = √(386) 

For an ellipse, sum of focal radii = 2a. For a hyperbola difference of focal radii = 2a 

Focal radii are √(24^2+7^2) = 25 and √(5^2+12^2) = 13 

∴ for ellipse 2a = 25+13 = 38 and so e = 2ae /2a = √(386) / 38 

And for a hyperbola 2a = 25−13 = 12 and so e = 2ae / 2a = √(386) / 12
