Why r the southern slopes in Himalayan region covered with thick veget...
Introduction:

The southern slopes of the Himalayan region are known for their thick vegetation cover compared to the northern slopes. This stark difference can be attributed to various factors, including the influence of monsoon winds, temperature variations, and the availability of moisture.

1. Monsoon Winds:

One of the primary reasons for the thick vegetation cover on the southern slopes is the influence of monsoon winds. During the summer monsoon season, moist winds blow from the Indian Ocean and bring heavy rainfall to the southern slopes. This abundant rainfall creates favorable conditions for the growth of vegetation, leading to a dense forest cover. In contrast, the northern slopes receive significantly less rainfall due to the rain shadow effect, resulting in drier conditions and sparse vegetation.

2. Temperature:

Temperature variations also play a crucial role in the vegetation distribution between the southern and northern slopes. The southern slopes experience relatively higher temperatures due to their lower elevation and proximity to low-lying plains. Warmer temperatures create a more favorable environment for plant growth and support a diverse range of vegetation. In contrast, the northern slopes are at higher altitudes and experience colder temperatures, which restrict the growth of vegetation and result in sparse vegetation cover.

3. Moisture Availability:

The southern slopes benefit from the moisture-laden winds that bring ample rainfall during the monsoon season. This availability of moisture allows plants to thrive and grow abundantly. Moreover, the southern slopes receive more direct sunlight throughout the day due to their orientation, which aids in photosynthesis and further supports the growth of vegetation. On the other hand, the northern slopes receive less rainfall and have limited moisture availability, which hampers the growth of vegetation.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, the southern slopes of the Himalayan region have a thick vegetation cover compared to the northern slopes due to factors such as the influence of monsoon winds, temperature variations, and the availability of moisture. These factors create a more favorable environment for plant growth on the southern slopes, resulting in lush forests and dense vegetation.

Why r the southern slopes in Himalayan region covered with thick veget...
The Monsoon winds system comes from the South i.e. where the Indian/Pacific Ocean is;then the Himalayas block these winds/Clouds.
By the time they reach the top , and try to go to the other side, i.e. the Northen side, the Clouds reach Saturation and Precipitate ( In other word, the cloud condenses and rains).
So , you get more rain, like 100 times more rain to the Southern Side of Himalayas then on the North.
So,the South is Green and north is barren, don't forget about sun rays.
Southern slop get more sun light than northern slop. more sunlight mean more ice melting means more river water.Siberian cold waves are so harsh;it prevent life on northern slopes.
