Calculation of amount refunded to A:

  • Initial Profit Sharing:

    • Initial profit sharing ratio between P and Q = 3:2

    • P's capital = $120,000

    • Q's capital = $54,000

    • Total capital = $120,000 + $54,000 = $174,000

    • P's share of profit = $\frac{3}{5} \times \frac{120,000}{174,000}$

    • Q's share of profit = $\frac{2}{5} \times \frac{54,000}{174,000}$

  • New Profit Sharing:

    • After C is admitted for 1/5th share, the new total share = 1 + 1/5 = 6/5

    • C's capital = $120,000

    • C's share of profit = $\frac{1}{5} \times \frac{120,000}{174,000}$

  • Amount to be Refunded to A:

    • A's initial share of profit = P's share of profit

    • A's new share of profit = A's initial share + C's share

    • Amount to be refunded to A = A's new share - A's initial share

By following the above calculations, you can determine the amount that needs to be refunded to A after C is admitted with his capital and share of profit.
