SN1 Reaction:-
~takes place in 2 steps
first (slow) step: breaking of haloalkane into carbonation.
second (fast) step: attack and attachment of nucleophile.
~rate depends only upon haloalkane (this is due to the reason I'm step 1st only haloalkane is present.
SN2 Reaction:-
~takes place in 1 step
intermediate is formed when attack and attachment of nucleophile takes place.
~rate depends upon haloalkane as well as on nucleophile.
~takes place in 2 steps
