Swarn Jayanti Shahri Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) is a poverty alleviation program launched by the Government of India in 1997. The scheme has two components, namely Urban Self-Employment Programme (USEP) and Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP).

Components of SJSRY:

The scheme provides assistance in the form of subsidy and bank credit to the eligible beneficiaries. The target groups for USEP are educated and unemployed youth, women, SCs, STs, and other weaker sections of society.

2. Urban Wage Employment Programme (UWEP): This component of SJSRY aims to provide wage employment to the urban poor living below the poverty line. The scheme provides employment opportunities through the creation of community-based infrastructure such as roads, drains, community toilets, and other public amenities. The target groups for UWEP are urban poor including slum dwellers, casual laborers, and construction workers.
