He was an ideal teacher can be seen from the fact that even on the last day he tried to teach as much as he could. He taught grammar,writing skills. He had new copies for his students, written in a beautiful round hand: France, Alsace, France, Alsace.  He analyzed the causes of defeat of Alsace. He held himself and the procrastination of the French people to be responsible for the defeat. On the last day he appealed to his students to hold on to the French as it was the key to their freedom.  He was emotionally attached to the school and all his students. However, he was very brave and strong. He was really sorry for not making sincere efforts to teach French to his countrymen. At the end,he became so emotional that he could not speak. Thus we can say that he was an ideal teacher.
