Ans. An atom is the basic building block of matter. It is the smallest unit of an element that retains the chemical properties of that element. Atoms consist of a nucleus, which contains protons and neutrons, and electrons that orbit around the nucleus.

Ans. A molecule is a group of two or more atoms that are chemically bonded together. It is the smallest unit of a compound that retains the chemical properties of that compound. Molecules can be made up of atoms of the same element or different elements.

Ans. Atoms are the individual particles that make up molecules. Molecules are formed when atoms combine through chemical bonding. In a molecule, atoms are held together by chemical bonds, either through sharing electrons (covalent bonding) or transferring electrons (ionic bonding).
| 4. What are the different types of atoms and molecules? | |
Ans. There are over 100 different types of atoms known as elements. Each element is represented by a unique symbol, such as H for hydrogen or O for oxygen. Molecules can be made up of the same element (e.g., O2 for oxygen molecule) or different elements (e.g., H2O for water molecule).
| 5. How do atoms and molecules behave in chemical reactions? | |
Ans. In a chemical reaction, atoms and molecules rearrange their bonds to form new substances. The total number of atoms remains the same before and after the reaction, as atoms are neither created nor destroyed. This is known as the law of conservation of mass. During a chemical reaction, the bonds between atoms in the reactant molecules break, and new bonds form to create the products.
