1. (4) The Mid-day Meal Scheme is a school meal
programme. It was launched by the Government of India
in 1995. It was designed to provide better nutritional
food to school going children of primary and upper
primary classes in government, government aided
schools. It is for children who come empty stomach in
schools.

Pal Committee was set up by the Government in March
1992 under the chairmanship of Prof. Yash Pal. This
committee suggested ways and means to reduce academic
burden on school students to reduce the weight of school
bag and gave the report of ‘Learning without Burden’.

Studies (EVS) is to inculcate values of cooperation and

4. (4) Building as Learning Aid or BALA is a concept
which was originally developed by Vinyas, Centre for
Architectural Research and Design with support from
UNICEF. It is an innovative concept towards qualitative
improvement in education, through developing
child-friendly learning and fun based physical
environment building in school infrastructure.

creating desert conditions with low levels of
precipitation. Second is its very high elevation (ranging
from 3000 - 5000m). Thus, both these conditions add
coldness in its environment.

1. (4) The Mid-day Meal Scheme is a school meal
