Introduction

Everything around us has a name! 

The names of people, places, animals, and things are called Naming Words or Nouns.

For example:

• Rahul is my friend. (Name of a person)
• I live in Delhi. (Name of a place)
• The dog is barking. (Name of an animal)
• This is my bag. (Name of a thing)

Types of Naming Words

1. Names of People

These are the names of persons.

Examples:

• Aman is my brother.
• Riya is a smart girl.
• Doctor, teacher, and policeman are also naming words.

2. Names of Places

These are the names of places.

Examples:

• I live in Mumbai.
• We went to the park.
• My school’s name is Sunshine School.

3. Names of Animals

These are the names of animals and birds.

Examples:

• The cat is sleeping.
• The elephant is big.
• The sparrow is flying.

4. Names of Things

These are the names of objects and things.

Examples:

• I have a pencil.
• The table is brown.
• She bought a new dress.
