Introduction

The point of view is about who is telling the story. It helps us understand who is sharing what happens in the story. Who is the Narrator?

• The narrator is the person or voice telling the story.
  • The narrator helps us know what is happening in the story.
  • They share what the characters do, say, and feel.
  • Sometimes the narrator is a character in the story.
  • Sometimes the narrator is not in the story but knows everything about it.
• There are different types of narrators.
  • First-person narrator: This narrator is in the story and uses words like "I," "me," or "we."
    • Example: "I went to the park and played with my friends."
    • We see the story through the narrator’s eyes.
    • We learn what the narrator thinks and feels.
  • Third-person narrator: This narrator is not in the story and uses words like "he," "she," or "they."
    • Example: "She ran to the store to buy candy."
    • The narrator tells us about the characters from outside the story.
    • They can share what many characters think and do.
• The narrator’s job is to share the story with us.
  • They tell us about the people, places, and events in the story.
  • They help us understand what is going on.
  • They make the story exciting by sharing it in their own way.
• Knowing who the narrator is helps us understand the story better.
  • If the narrator says "I," we know it’s a first-person story.
  • If the narrator says "he" or "she," it’s a third-person story.
