(b)
Class 5 Maths - How Big How Heavy - CBSE Worksheets Solutions - 1Sol: (a) Number of squares = 6
Since each square is 1 cm,
Volume of one square =side x side x side
 = 1cm x 1cm x 1cm = 1 cm3
Volume of 6 squares = 6 cm3
(b) Number of squares = 12
Since each square is 1 cm,
Volume of one square =side x side x side
 = 1cm x 1cm x 1cm = 1 cm3
Volume of 12 squares = 12 cm3

Sol: (a) Since the given shape is a cuboid having
Length = 8m
Width = 3m
Height = 4m
Volume of a cuboid = length x width x height
= 8m x 3m x 4m
= 96 m3
(b) Since the given shape is a cube having side = 3m
Volume of a cube = side x side x side
= 3m x 3m x 3m
=
27m3
(c) Since the given shape is a cuboid having
Length = 15m
Width = 4m
Height = 8m
Volume of a cuboid = length x width x height
= 15m x 8m x 4m
480 m3
(d) Since the given shape is a cube having side = 6m
Volume of a cube = side x side x side
= 6m x 6m x 6m
=
216 m3

(iii) Which of the following has a greater volume?
(all units are in cm)
Class 5 Maths - How Big How Heavy - CBSE Worksheets Solutions - 1Sol: Shape A is cuboid having
length = 4m
width = 2m
height = 3m
Volume of Shape A = length x width x height
= 4m x 2m x 3m
= 24m3
 Shape B is cuboid having
length = 3m
width = 5m
height = 2m
Volume of Shape A = length x width x height
= 3m x 5m x 2m
= 30m3
Shape B has greater volume, i.e. 30 cm cubes.

(iv) Tick the one which has more weight.
Class 5 Maths - How Big How Heavy - CBSE Worksheets Solutions - 1 Sol: Table

(v) If one bucket holds 2 litres, how many would 9 buckets hold?
Class 5 Maths - How Big How Heavy - CBSE Worksheets Solutions - 1Sol: Volume of water 1 bucket can hold = 2 litres
Volume of water 9 buckets can hold = 9 x 2 = 18 litres
So, the answer is 18 litres.

(vi) How much heavier is the toffee packet which has mass 1 kg 845 g in comparison to 500 g of chocolates?Class 5 Maths - How Big How Heavy - CBSE Worksheets Solutions - 1 Sol: Since first toffee packet weighs 1kg 845g = 1845g
And second toffee packet weighs 500g
Heavy toffee packet can be calculated as
=1845g - 500g
 = 1345g

(x) If a cup holds 250ml, how many cups would it take to fill a 5 litre bottle?
Class 5 Maths - How Big How Heavy - CBSE Worksheets Solutions - 1Sol: Volume of liquid 1 cup can hold = 250 ml = 250/1000 = 0.25l
Cups required to fill a 5 litre bottle = 5 x (1/0.25) = 20 cups

Q2: Fill in the blanks.
