Q3: Read the passage and answer the questions given below: [2 × 5 = 10 Marks]
Once there was a young girl named Lila who loved to explore the woods near her home. Every day after school, she would rush to the forest, eager to discover new things. One afternoon, she found a small, hidden path that led deeper into the woods than she had ever ventured before. She followed the path and came upon a beautiful clearing with a small pond at its center. The pond was surrounded by tall trees, their leaves creating a canopy that blocked out the sun, making the area feel cool and peaceful. Lila sat by the pond, dipping her feet into the water, when she noticed a group of small animals—rabbits, squirrels, and birds—gathering around the water. She felt like she had discovered a secret world.
As she sat quietly, she saw an elderly man walking down the path. He was wearing a long coat and had a cane with him. The man smiled at Lila and greeted her. "This is a special place," he said. "Not many people know about it." The man explained that the pond had magical properties—it could grant wishes, but only to those who truly believed in it. Lila, intrigued, asked him how the pond worked. "It listens to your heart," he explained. "You must be sincere and make your wish with a pure heart."

Some days later, hunter comes — sees dove, aims, bee sees danger, stings him, misses aim, dove flies away and saves.
Ans: One scorching hot day, a thirsty bee flew to a river to quench its thirst. However, the current was so strong that it swept the bee away, and it began to drown. Nearby, a dove was perched on a tree by the riverbank. Upon noticing the struggling bee, the compassionate dove immediately took action. She plucked a leaf from the tree and dropped it into the water near the bee. The bee climbed onto the leaf, dried its wings, and flew away, grateful for the dove's kindness.
Several days later, a hunter appeared near the river. Spotting the dove, he aimed his weapon at her. The bee, witnessing the threat, quickly flew towards the hunter. In a bold move, it stung him on the hand, causing the hunter to miss his shot. The dove, now free from danger, swiftly flew away.
The dove, deeply thankful, expressed her gratitude to the bee, and from that day on, they became the best of friends.

Q5: While going home you came across many children on the roads at crossroads with begging bowls in their hands. You are shocked and disgusted at this unflattering picture of a country that boasts of being a major economy in the world. Record your experience in your diary. [15 marks]
Agra
20th April, 20XX
Sunday, 6:00 pmDear Diary,
Today, I couldn’t help but reflect on a painful reality that continues to plague our country. They say that India is emerging as one of the world’s major economies. While this may be true in some respects, the sad truth is that we also have the largest population of poor people, paupers, and beggars. It’s heartbreaking to see that millions of people in India are condemned to a life of begging.
I was deeply shocked today when I saw hundreds of people, poorly dressed and looking wretched, shouting in desperate tones, "Baba, give me something for God’s sake." It made me realize how no country can truly be considered great if its children are forced to live in such appalling conditions. How can we call ourselves a civilized society if millions of children are left to live in filth, poverty, and misery?
Every child deserves the fundamental right to proper food, clothing, and education, guaranteed by the Constitution. And yet, the reality is far from this. Begging has also become a profitable business for some unscrupulous people who abduct children and raise them to beg on the streets. But then there’s the other side of the story—the millions of able-bodied hands that go without work, with no other option but to resort to begging for survival.
This situation is a source of immense shame for the government and for all of us as a society. It is a matter that needs urgent attention. I wish for a day when no child, no person, is forced to live such a dehumanizing life.
Yours sadly,
Kit

In this poem, the poet describes different types of home of the baby bird. What is the difference between a house and a home? Which do you think is better?
Ans: A house is a lifeless structure of bricks and stones, wood and glass. It has tile floors, chimneys, and so many doors. But it has no feelings, no voice.
Home should not be confused with a house. It is altogether different from a house. It consists of living beings, a group of loving and "helpful brothers and sisters, mother and father. They care for each other unselfishly. They are kind and sharing. A home is much better than a mere house.
