Q1: A huge variety of life is found in the rainforests of the Amazon. Explain.

Ans: The rainforests of the Amazon basin are very rich in fauna. Birds such as toucans, hummingbirds, and birds of paradise with their brilliantly coloured plumage, and oversized bills for eating, make them different from the birds we see in our daily life. Animals include monkeys, sloths and ant-eating tapirs. Various species of reptiles and snakes also thrive in these forests. Crocodiles, snakes and pythons are found there in a huge number. Anaconda and boa constrictor are some of the species found there.

The Amazon basin is also home to thousands of species of insects. Several species of fish including the flesh-eating piranha fest are also found in the river. Thus, this basin has wildlife in abundance.
