India a motherland has diverse physical
features today let's talk about the
coastal plains and islands the coastal
plains are characterized by an area of
flat low-lying land that is situated
adjacent to water body either a sea or
an ocean the coastal plains lie to the
west and the East of the western and
eastern cuts the Western and the eastern
coastal plains meet at Cape Cameron the
southernmost tip of the Indian mainland
the coastal plains have limited
vegetation the eastern coastal plains
lie between the eastern Ghats and the
Bay of Bengal it extends from Tamil Nadu
in the south to West Bengal in the north
the eastern coastal plains with many
large fertile Delta's is much broader
than the western coastal plain the
northern part of the eastern coastal
plain is also called the northern
circars the southern path is called the
Coromandel Coast the vessel coastal
plains are located in the west of India
between the Western Ghats and the
Arabian Sea they are characterized by
numerous backwaters and rivers that flow
into the region these rivers form
estuaries that are found in the western
coastal plains of India the northern
part of the western coastal plain is
called the Konkan coast and the southern
part is called the Malabar Coast there
are two groups of islands which are part
of India one is in the Arabian Sea and
the other is in the Bay of Bengal the
under man and the cover islands in the
Bay of Bengal lie to the southeast of
the Indian mainland they comprise about
550 islands these islands are actually
the peaks of
most of volcanic mountains they include
the Barren Island the only active
volcano in India Port Blair is the
capital of the Andaman group of islands
and car Nicobar is the capital of
Nicobar group of islands the luxury deep
islands lie close to their Malabar Coast
of Kerala this group of islands is
composed of small coral islands covereth
