Describe a person you love/like/admire | Speaking for IELTS PDF Download

You should say:

  • What relation this person is to you?
  • What are your first memories of this person?
  • How often do you see this person?
  • And explain why you really admire this person.

Sample Answer:

  • Unquestionably, family is the most valuable thing for almost every individual.
  • It is entirely unimaginable to live without my family for me.
  • So, if I have to talk about one person I admire the most, that would be my sister.
  • Although she is 11 years younger than me, this massive age gap doesn’t pose a hurdle between us in any way.
  • As much as I can recall, I was on the ninth cloud when she came into our lives.
  • When she was a toddler, I was already in my teens.
  • Thus, I used to try and overpower her, demonstrating my teenage qualities and authority over her.
  • However, despite all of it, I love her unconditionally.
  • When she grew up, she started displaying understanding attributes.
  • And today, now that I have entered my adult years and have gone through all those years she is currently relishing, I try and be as lenient yet considerate as possible.
  • One of the things that are lacking, though, is the time we spent together.
  • She is held up with her school from dawn to dusk and then extra tuition.
  • Thus, we only get to spend a few hours together during the night.
  • Even then, because of our excessive exhaustion from a prolonged day, we doze off quickly.
  • So, I would like to spend more time with her.
  • All in all, one of the best qualities that I admire the most in her is maturity.
  • She is thoughtful and empathetic towards others.
  • Through my experiences, I have taught her how to be brave and deal with the world more meticulously.
  • So, looking at her, being bold with every passing day, fills me up with a sense of pride.

Follow-ups
Q1: Why do you admire this person?
Ans:
I admire this person because of their kindness and determination. They always help others without expecting anything in return, and they inspire me with their hard work and positive attitude. They have a strong sense of integrity and are always striving to make the world a better place.

Q2: How do you think admiration can influence people's behavior?
Ans:
Admiration can have a positive influence on people's behavior by motivating them to adopt good qualities. When someone admires a person for their kindness, intelligence, or perseverance, they might try to emulate those traits, which can lead to personal growth and a more positive outlook on life.

Q3: Do you think people are more likely to admire celebrities or ordinary people?
Ans:
I think people admire both celebrities and ordinary people, but for different reasons. Celebrities may be admired for their achievements, talents, or public persona, while ordinary people are admired for their genuine qualities, such as kindness, resilience, or the way they handle challenges. Ultimately, admiration is based on what people value most.

Q4: What qualities do you think are important in a person to make them admirable?
Ans:
Qualities like kindness, honesty, hard work, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility are important in making someone admirable. When a person shows care for others, maintains integrity in difficult situations, and works towards improving themselves and their community, they tend to earn admiration from those around them.
