Q1: Monthly salary of a person is Rs.15000. The central angle of the sector representing his expenses on food and house rent on a pie chart is 60o . The amount he spend on food and house rent is

Sol: 
As, total salary= 15000, expenses on food and house rent= 60o
 Food and housing expenses from monthly salary = Central angle of the part of pie chart / Central angle of the pie chart
Given that,
Part of salary spent on food and house rent = 60 / 360o = 1/6
Salary spent in amount on food and housing = 1/6 x 15000
= 2500
∴2500 Rs is total amount spent on food and house rent.

Q2: A rectangle is divided into a certain number of equal parts. If 16 of the parts so formed represent the fraction  1/4 , find the number of parts in which the rectangle has been divided.
Sol:
Let the number of parts in which the rectangle has been divided be x
According to the question ⇒ 16/x = 1/4
Cross-multiplication  ⇒16 × 4 = 1 × x
⇒ x = 64
64 are the parts in which the rectangle has been divided.

∴    We have to shade 8 more squares.
