A Natural Phenomenon is anything that occurs on its
own in nature without any kind of human intervention.
Seek Shelter – Go indoors
or inside a car immediately.
Avoid Water – Stay away
from lakes, pools, and wet
areas.
Stay Low – Crouch down if
in an open area; avoid high
places.
Avoid Trees – Do not stand
under tall trees or poles.
Unplug Electronics –
Protect devices from power
surges.
Stay Inside – Wait 30
minutes after the last thunder
before going out.
Lightning
Lightning is a natural electrical
discharge in the atmosphere that
usually happens with thunder. It
often occurs during
thunderstorms, but can also take
place during volcanic eruptions
or dust storms.
When we rub two objects with
each other they get charged
due to a transfer of electrons
between them.
Objects having an excess of electrons
are called negatively charged while
an object having a shortage of
electrons are called positively
charged.
