LETTER WRITING

INTRODUCTION:

A letter is one person's written message to another pertaining to some matter of common concern. It can be among relatives, friends, officers, businessmen, students and teachers, principal, blood relations like mother, father, brother and sister.  Despite the prevalence of emails and text messages, everyone has to write letters at some point. Letters of complaint, job applications, thank you letters, letters requesting changes or making suggestions — the list goes on and on. Encouraging children to write letters from an early age will improve their communication, social and handwriting skills, and teach them what they need to know about writing and structuring letters.

TYPES OF LETTER:

1) FORMAL LETTER
2) INFORMAL LETTER

1) FORMAL LETTER:  A Letter written for a formal purpose is called a Formal letter. It addresses a serious issue. These are sometimes known as business letters. Examples: Letter to the editor, Letter to the Government, Letter to the police,  Letter to the principal, Order letter, Complaint letter,  Inquiry letter,  Business letter, Application letter.

2) INFORMAL LETTER:  A Letter written for an informal purpose is called an Informal letter. It is written for a casual purpose. These are letters to friends and relatives, or people you know well.Examples:  Letter to parents, Letter to siblings, Letter to friends, Letter to classmates, Letter to neighbours.
