KPSC KAS Exam Pattern
The Karnataka Public Service Commission Syllabus for the KPSC KAS Recruitment 2024 is structured into preliminary , the mains exams and the interview stage, each comprising specific papers with allocated marks.
Preliminary Exam
- The preliminary exam consists of two papers - Paper 1 & Paper 2
- It is held in offline mode.
- Both papers contain multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- Each correct answer awards 2 marks, with a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
- Each paper is scored out of 200 marks.

Mains Exam
- The Mains exam consists of 9 papers.
- The exam features descriptive-type questions, including essays.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- The maximum marks that can be obtained are 1750.
Interview
Once candidates clear the Mains exam, they must undergo an interview process, which carries 200 marks. The final selection is based on the combined performance in both the Mains exam and the interview.
