Telangana State Overview

• Telangana became the 29th state of India on June 2, 2014.
• It spans an area of 1,12,077 sq. km. with a population of 3,50,03,674.

National Population Policy

• Population Estimates: In the latest World Population Prospects by the United Nations (2015 revision), it is projected that India's population will reach around 1419 million, while China's population will be approximately 1409 million by the year 2022.
• Total Fertility Rate (TFR): Despite a noticeable decrease in the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) in India from 3.6 in 1991 to 2.3 in 2013, India has not yet attained the replacement level of 2.1.
