RADIATION METHOD
The plane table is set up over only one station from which the whole traverse can be commanded. It is suitable for survey of small areas.

PROCEDURE

  • Select a point “O ” so that all points to be located are visible from it.
  • Set up the table at “O”, level it, and do centering.
  • SELECT A POINT “O” on the sheet so that it is exactly over station “O” on
  • Mark the direction of the magnetic meridian
  • Centering the alidade on “O” BISECT the objects of traverse A, B, C and D.
  • Measure the distances OA, OB, OC and OD and plotted to convenient scale to locate a, b, c and d respectively
  • Join the points a, b, c and d on the paper.

FAQs on Radiation Method, Surveying and Levelling - Surveying and Levelling Notes- Agricultural Engg - Agricultural Engineering

1. What is the radiation method in agricultural engineering?
Ans. The radiation method in agricultural engineering refers to the use of electromagnetic radiation, such as infrared radiation or gamma radiation, to measure certain parameters in agriculture. This method is commonly used to estimate crop water requirements, detect plant diseases, and assess soil moisture levels.
2. How is surveying used in agricultural engineering?
Ans. Surveying plays a crucial role in agricultural engineering as it helps in determining the topography of the land, locating boundaries, and designing irrigation systems. By using surveying techniques, agricultural engineers can accurately measure distances, elevations, and angles, ensuring efficient land management and resource allocation.
3. What is leveling in agricultural engineering?
Ans. Leveling in agricultural engineering involves determining and maintaining a flat or uniform surface on agricultural land. This process is essential for proper irrigation, as it ensures that water is evenly distributed across the field. Levelling also helps in preventing soil erosion, improving crop yield, and facilitating mechanized farming operations.
4. How does the radiation method contribute to precision agriculture?
Ans. The radiation method is a key component of precision agriculture, which aims to optimize crop production by utilizing technology and data-driven approaches. By using remote sensing techniques based on radiation, agricultural engineers can gather information about crop health, soil conditions, and water availability. This data enables farmers to make informed decisions regarding fertilization, irrigation, and pest management, leading to more efficient and sustainable agricultural practices.
5. What are the advantages of using surveying and leveling techniques in agriculture?
Ans. Surveying and leveling techniques offer several benefits in agricultural engineering. Firstly, they help in accurate land measurement and boundary identification, ensuring proper land utilization. Secondly, these techniques aid in designing and implementing efficient irrigation systems, which are crucial for crop growth. Additionally, surveying and leveling enable farmers to identify areas prone to erosion or drainage issues, allowing for targeted soil conservation efforts. Overall, these techniques promote optimal land management and resource allocation in agriculture.
