SBI PO Eligibility Criteria

All the candidates must follow the specified guidelines and conform to the SBI PO eligibility 2023 on all fronts. If any candidate fails to prove his/her eligibility or falls short on any aspect, their candidature will be cancelled at any point of the recruitment process. There are mainly three SBI PO eligibility criteria. These are:

  • SBI PO Nationality
  • SBI PO Age Limit
  • SBI PO Qualification

SBI PO Eligibility - Nationality

The SBI PO eligibility includes candidates of Indian nationality who would only be allowed to participate in the examination. Candidates should fall under any one of the following categories to be considered for SBI PO eligibility criteria 2023.

  • Indian national.
  • A subject of Bhutan or Nepal.
  • Tibetan refugees who arrived in India prior to January 1, 1962, with the goal of settling permanently.
  • PIOs (people of Indian origin) who have moved to India with the aim of staying permanently from countries like Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African nations like Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, or Malawi.

Candidates that fall under categories 2, 3, or 4 need to have a certificate of eligibility that was issued in their favour by the Indian government.

SBI PO Age Limit

Ensure checking the SBI PO age limit before taking the exam, as if found ineligible later would lead to the rejection of the candidature. The applicant must be of the age group 21 years to 30 years as of April 01, 2023. It implies that candidates must have been born no later than April 01, 2001, and not earlier than April 02, 1992 (both inclusive days). There is also the provision for age relaxation in the SBI PO upper age limit for certain categories of aspirants.

SBI PO Qualification

It is of utmost importance for the aspirants to check the SBI PO educational qualification and the percentage required to be considered eligible. As per the notification, candidates must fulfil educational qualifications under the SBI PO eligibility subject to the norms of the organization.

  • Those candidates interested in applying for the post of PO must be a Graduate in any discipline from a state or central-recognized university or possess any other equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
  • Candidates in their final semester/year are also eligible to apply, but they will have to mention the result stating pass on the date mentioned by the organization.
  • Candidates will have to present proof of passing their graduation or having the graduation degree pass as per the deadline stipulated by the bank.
  • Aspirants who have pursued an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate must ensure about the date of passing is on or before December 31, 2022.
  • Candidates with the degree of Chartered Accountant are also eligible to apply for the SBI PO recruitment process.

How to Calculate the SBI PO Eligibility Percentage?

Candidates must ensure that they are filling out the application form according to the SBI PO eligibility percentage, as marks will be considered according to this only.

  • The candidature will be cancelled if the mark sheet or provisional certificate issued by the University/Institute is not by the date mentioned by the bank. The result of any examination posted on the website of the University/Institute will be taken as the final date of passing that exam or semester.
  • The candidate should indicate the percentage obtained in Graduation calculated to the nearest two decimals in the online application where CGPA/ OGPA is awarded. The same should be converted into the percentage and indicated in the online application.
  • If called for the interview, an aspirant will have to show the original certificate issued under the concerned authority stating the norms of the university regarding the conversion of grades into percentages and the percentage of marks scored by the candidate.
  • Calculation of Percentage: The percentage will be calculated by the marks arrived in the mark sheet and by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all semester(s)/year(s) by the aggregate maximum marks in all the subjects irrespective of honours/optional/additional optional subject, if any. Marks obtained in a fraction of the percentage will be ignored, i.e., 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%, and 54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

SBI PO Eligibility - Number of Attempts

The category-wise classification of the number of attempts per SBI PO eligibility 2023 has been discussed below. Aspirants who have already appeared for the maximum number of permissible attempts are not eligible to apply.
The basic factors deciding the number of attempts are given below:

  • The number of attempts has been decided as per the category of the candidates.
  • Candidates who cross the age limit are ineligible to apply even if they have attempts left with them.
  • The number of attempts will be counted from the examination held on and after 18.04.2010.
  • Appearing in the prelims exam will not be considered a chance or attempt for SBI PO.
