In chapter Flames in Forest ,  we meet a boy named Romi who is about to go on a bicycle ride. Suddenly, he sees smoke rising from a forest in the distance. His friend Prem warns him about the forest fire, but Romi decides to continue his journey because he needs to get home to take care of his sick father. The weather is very hot and dry, and there hasn't been any rain for a long time. The grass and leaves are all dry and brown. As Romi rides near the forest, he can see the smoke and feel the heat from the fire. He encounters many animals fleeing from the fire, like hares, monkeys, and even a python.

Romi faces challenges along the way, including falling off his bicycle and bandaging his knee. He meets a young boy named Teju, who was delivering milk to workers but got caught in the fire. Teju joins Romi on his bicycle, and together they continue their journey.
