Symmetrical state - Class 12 PDF Download

Six charges are placed at the corner of a regular hexagon as shown. If an electron is placed at its centre O, force on it will be
  • a)
    Zero
  • b)
    Along OF
  • c)
    Along OC
  • d)
    None of these
Correct answer is option 'D'. Can you explain this answer?

charge at F and C cancel each other....charges at B and E forms resultant 2q at B.......between A and D resultant forms 3q at D
All this because electron(-ve charge) is placed in the centre.
so now net charges are at B(2q) and D(3q)....these are asymmetrical so resultant can't be along OC .....resultant will be little diverted toward OD(compared from OC)Image

FAQs on Symmetrical state - Class 12

1. What is a symmetrical state in Class 12?
Ans. A symmetrical state in Class 12 refers to a state of equilibrium or balance where the shape, size, and orientation of an object or system remain unchanged under certain operations, such as rotation, reflection, or translation.
2. How is symmetry important in Class 12?
Ans. Symmetry is important in Class 12 as it helps in understanding and analyzing various aspects of objects and systems. It allows us to identify patterns, predict behavior, and simplify complex problems by exploiting the symmetrical properties.
3. Can you provide an example of a symmetrical state in Class 12?
Ans. Yes, an example of a symmetrical state in Class 12 can be observed in a balanced chemical equation. In such equations, the number of atoms of each element on both sides of the equation remains the same, representing a symmetrical state.
4. How can symmetrical states be determined in Class 12?
Ans. Symmetrical states in Class 12 can be determined by examining the properties of an object or system. For example, if an object can be divided into two equal halves that are mirror images of each other, it possesses reflectional symmetry. Similarly, rotational symmetry can be identified if an object can be rotated by a certain angle and still maintain its original appearance.
5. Why is the study of symmetrical states important in Class 12?
Ans. The study of symmetrical states in Class 12 is important as it helps in understanding the fundamental principles and concepts of various subjects, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. It provides a basis for analyzing and solving problems, as well as discovering new patterns and relationships within different systems.
