Somebody's Mother

Stanza 1
The poet describes an old, tired woman with grey hair 
and ragged clothes.
It is a cold winter day, and the street is wet with 
snow.
She walks slowly with weak feet and waits alone at 
the crossing.
Many people pass by, but nobody notices or helps 
her.
Stanza 2
Passersby ignore the woman's worried looks.
A group of schoolboys comes running happily after 
school is over.
They laugh and shout, enjoying the snowy street.
The boys are compared to a flock of sheep moving 
together.
Stanza 3
The boys hurried past the old woman without offering her any 
help.
She felt meek and timid, too shy and afraid to move on her own.
She worried that she might slip on the snow or be hurt by passing 
horses and carriages.
The road seemed very dangerous and unsafe for her to cross 
alone.
Stanza 4
At last, one cheerful boy from the group stopped beside the old 
woman.
He spoke softly and offered to help her cross the road.
She placed her weak and trembling hand on his strong young arm.
The boy carefully guided her across the road, making sure she 
was safe and unharmed.
Stanza 5
The boy felt proud of himself as he supported her unsteady steps.
After helping her cross, he returned happily to his group of friends.
He reminded them that the old woman was <somebody9s mother,= 
even though she looked poor and old now.
By saying this, he showed respect and love for her, thinking of her 
as a parent who was once cherished.
Stanza 6
The boy said that he hoped someone would help his own mother 
one day if she ever grew old and helpless.
He believed that kindness shown to others would return to him or 
his loved ones in the future.
That night, the old woman bowed her head at home and offered a 
prayer.
She remembered the boy9s act of kindness with deep love and 
gratitude in her heart.
Stanza 7
In her prayer, the old woman asked God to bless the noble boy.
She called him <somebody9s son,= knowing that he must be a great source 
of pride and joy to his family.
Her prayer was filled with love, thankfulness, and a wish for his happiness 
and well-being.
