Q.1. Find the rule which gives the number of lines required to make the following pattern. Use a variable to write the rule.

(i) LetterAlgebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11 __________

(ii) Letter Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11__________

(iii) Letter Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11__________

(iv) Letter Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11__________

Ans.
(i) 2n
(ii) 3n
(iii) 4n
(iv) 2n

Q.2. Children stand 10 in a row to perform a drill. How many children can there be in a drill? Give the rule to calculate this. (Use n for the number of rows)

Ans. Number of students in each row = n

Number of students in 10 rows = 10 × n = 10n

Q.3. Form an algebraic expression using the statements given below :
(i) 17 subtracted from '–y' __________
(ii) '–m' multiplied by 10 __________
(iii) x divided by '–2' __________
(iv) 4 added to 6 times y __________

Ans.
(i) – y – 17
(ii) – 10m

(iii) Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11

(iv) 6y + 4

Q.4. If y is Meena's age now in years how old will she be after 7 years? __________

Ans. Present age of Meena = y
Age of Meena after 7 years = (y + 7) years

Q.5. If the side of a regular septagon is b units, then what is it's perimeter? __________

Ans. All sides of regylar polygons are equal and Septagon has 7 sides
Let one side of septagon be b
Therefore , perimeter of regular septagon = 7 times b  = 7b units

Q.6. Is 2 p–3> 7 an algebraic equation? __________

Ans. No

No, 2p−3>7 is not an algebraic equation.

An algebraic equation must have an equal sign (=), whereas this expression uses an inequality sign (>), making it an inequality rather than an equation.

Q.7. A teacher distributes 6 books per student. How many books are needed if s is the number of students?

Ans. Let number of students be s
Number of books distributed to 1 student = 6
Number of books distributed to 's' students =6 times s= 6s

Q.8. Pick out the correct solution from the values given in the bracket next to each equation:

(i) r – 8 = 0 (8, – 8, 0, 1) r = __________

(ii) Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11 (7, 14, 21, 63) t =          __________

(iii)  Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11 (1, –1, 64) k =        __________

Ans. (i) r - 8 = 0,
Transposing -8 to RHS
we get, r = 8

(ii) t/3 = 21

 Transposing 3 to RHS
we get, t = 63

(iii) k/8 = 8

Transposing 8 to RHS
we get, k = 64

Q.9. Complete the table and by inspection of the table find the solution to the equation Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11

Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11

Ans.

Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11

t = 16

Q.10. In a game of cricket, there are n children but in football there are Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11children. What does this indicate?

Ans. It indicates that the number of children in the game of football is one-third as there are in the game of cricket.

Q.11. Match the following :

Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11

Sol: (i) Solve for x in 5x = 20:

x = 205 = 4

(ii) Solve for x in 8 = x + 3:

x = 8 - 3 = 5

(iii) Solve for x in 12x = 4:

Multiply both sides by x: 12 = 4x
x = 124 = 3

(iv) Solve for x in 8 - x = 2:

Subtract 8: -x = -6
x = 6

Ans.
1. ↔ (b)
2. ↔ (c)
3. ↔ (d)
4.  ↔ (a)

Q.12. Give a mathematical expression for the statement: m multiplied by 5 and 6 subtracted from the product.

Ans: m multiplied by 5= 5 m
6 subtracted from the product, the algebric equation becomes = 5m-6

Q.13. Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11  l = __________

Ans. Transposing 2 to RHS , we get

I = 18 × 2

I = 36

Q.14. n – 12 = – 19  n = __________

Ans.The image shows the solution to the equation n12=19n - 12 = -19 n  using the following steps:

Transposing  −12 to the RHS.  When transposing, the sign changes:

n =−19 + 12n

Simplifying the RHS :

n=−7n

Q.15. Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11 m = __________

Ans. Solving the equation 3m/2 = 9

Transposing 2 to RHS we get ,

3m = 9× 2

3m =18

Transposing 3 to RHS

m= 18/3

m = 6

FAQs on Algebra Class 6 Worksheet Maths Chapter 11

1. What are the basic operations used in algebra?
Ans. The basic operations used in algebra include addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These operations form the foundation for solving algebraic equations and expressions.
2. How do you solve a simple linear equation?
Ans. To solve a simple linear equation, isolate the variable on one side of the equation. This can be done by performing inverse operations, such as adding or subtracting terms, and then dividing or multiplying to solve for the variable.
3. What is the difference between an equation and an expression in algebra?
Ans. An equation is a mathematical statement that shows the equality of two expressions, often containing an equal sign (e.g., 2x + 3 = 7). An expression, on the other hand, is a combination of numbers and variables without an equal sign (e.g., 2x + 3).
4. How do you factor a quadratic equation?
Ans. To factor a quadratic equation, look for two numbers that multiply to give the constant term and add to give the coefficient of the middle term. Once identified, rewrite the quadratic in its factored form, typically as (ax + b)(cx + d).
5. What are some common algebraic identities?
Ans. Some common algebraic identities include the distributive property (a(b + c) = ab + ac), the square of a binomial (a + b)² = a² + 2ab + b², and the difference of squares a² - b² = (a + b)(a - b). These identities can help simplify algebraic expressions and solve equations.
