Q. Water is meant by RRR of water bodies. Explain in brief.    [CBSE 2016]
Ans: RRR of water bodies mean repair, renovation and restoration of water bodies. It is a Govt of India scheme for Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) of Water Bodies directly linked to Agriculture started in January 2005. Estimated cost of the project was Rs. 300 crore to be shared by Centre and State in the ration of 3:1. The objectives of the Scheme were to restore and augment storage capacities of water bodies and also to recover and extend their lost irrigation potential. The Scheme has been approved for 26 district projects in 15 States.
