Once you have a good conceptual knowledge, you will be able to understand the advanced concepts and attempt the respective questions with ease. Having a strong foundation is critical for problem solving and arriving at correct answers in an entrance exam. Candidate should provide equal importance to both theory as well as numerical problems. As subject of Chemistry includes formulas and equations, practice by writing will be really useful.
3. Prepare a Study Plan:
It is better to prepare a timetable or study plan for IIT JAM preparation. This study plan will help in completing all the important topics from JAM syllabus in time. A schedule will be a motivating factor in your learning process as you will know how far you have come. Follow the schedule very strictly to achieve your goals. Allocate equal time to Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Many students ignore one section for they are more knowledgeable about others. By doing so, they lose valuable marks even in easy questions of that topic. So, make sure you give good enough time to every section and part. It will help you to study the different subjects according to the marks. If the distribution is not prepared, then you usually end up learning random topics, which may lead to confusion at the end.
4. Note-making helps!
Prepare short notes while studying each topic such that the important points are noted in there for future reference and saving time. This will be useful for quick revision before the exams. Notes sometimes can make all the difference when you're studying for the exam. They can explain the content in a short and crisp way unlike the books where you'll have to read the entire topic again during revision. They also highlight information and make it easier to understand and remember.
The short notes for each topic will be helpful at the end of the preparation as they will save a lot of your precious time. Always keep a pen and paper with you while studying and keep writing important points.
5. Practice and Test Yourself:
Practice as much as you can as solving maximum number of questions before the exam will help you in better time management and in understanding the type of questions asked. Take practice tests for every chapter and topic after you have gained basic idea of them. The exam performance depends on how many answers you write correctly in the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. To do that, you need to solve an extensively large number of questions on each topic throughout preparing for the exam.
