Ans. The CAT exam is a 3-hour long test consisting of three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA). Each section is allotted 1 hour.
| 3. What is the marking scheme for the CAT exam? | |
Ans. The CAT exam follows a scoring pattern of +3 marks for every correct answer and -1 mark for every incorrect answer. There is no negative marking for unattempted questions. Additionally, there are some non-MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) with no negative marking.
| 4. How many times is the CAT exam conducted in a year? | |
Ans. The CAT exam is conducted once a year, usually in the month of November or December. The exact date of the exam is announced by the conducting authority, which is usually the IIMs.
| 5. Can I use a calculator during the CAT exam? | |
Ans. No, the use of calculators or any other electronic devices is strictly prohibited during the CAT exam. Candidates are expected to perform all calculations manually. However, an on-screen calculator is provided within the exam interface for basic calculations.
