FAQs on Class 4 Maths Practice Question Answers - Factors and Multiples

1. What are factors and how do you find them?
Ans.Factors are the numbers you can multiply together to get another number. To find the factors of a number, you can divide it by whole numbers starting from 1 up to that number and see which divisions result in a whole number.
2. What are multiples and how are they different from factors?
Ans.Multiples are the results of multiplying a number by whole numbers. For example, the multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, etc. The difference is that factors divide a number evenly, while multiples are produced by multiplying a number.
3. How can I determine if a number is a factor of another number?
Ans.To determine if a number is a factor of another number, you can divide the larger number by the smaller number. If the result is a whole number with no remainder, then the smaller number is a factor of the larger number.
4. Can you give an example of finding factors and multiples for the number 12?
Ans.For the number 12, the factors are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 12 because these numbers can divide 12 evenly. The multiples of 12 are 12, 24, 36, 48, etc., which are obtained by multiplying 12 by whole numbers like 1, 2, 3, and so on.
5. Why are factors and multiples important in math?
Ans.Factors and multiples are important in math because they help in simplifying fractions, finding common denominators, and solving problems related to division and multiplication. Understanding them also lays the foundation for more advanced math concepts.
