FAQs on Safety And First Aid - CBSE Worksheets

1. What are the basic steps to take in case of a minor injury?
Ans. For a minor injury, first, ensure the area is safe. Clean the wound with soap and water, then apply an antiseptic to prevent infection. Cover it with a sterile bandage. If bleeding persists, apply gentle pressure and elevate the area. Monitor for signs of infection and seek medical help if necessary.
2. How can I perform CPR on an adult?
Ans. To perform CPR on an adult, first check for responsiveness and breathing. If the person is unresponsive and not breathing, call emergency services. Begin chest compressions at the center of the chest, pushing hard and fast at a rate of 100-120 compressions per minute. After 30 compressions, give 2 rescue breaths. Continue the cycle until help arrives.
3. What should I do if someone is choking?
Ans. If someone is choking and cannot cough or speak, encourage them to bend slightly forward and give them five hard back blows between the shoulder blades with the heel of your hand. If this doesn’t work, perform the Heimlich maneuver by placing your arms around their waist and thrusting inward and upward until the object is expelled or the person becomes unresponsive.
4. What are the signs of a concussion?
Ans. Signs of a concussion may include confusion, headache, nausea, dizziness, balance problems, and sensitivity to light or noise. The person may also experience memory loss or difficulty concentrating. If a concussion is suspected, it is important to seek medical evaluation immediately.
5. How do I treat a burn at home?
Ans. For a minor burn, immediately cool the burn under cool (not cold) running water for 10-20 minutes. Avoid ice, as it can damage the skin. After cooling, cover the burn with a non-stick, sterile dressing. Avoid using creams or ointments until the burn heals. If the burn is severe or shows signs of infection, seek medical attention.
