National Level
At the national level, the erstwhile Planning Commission (now NITI Aayog) is in the nodal agency responsible for the country planning. The Prime Minister is the chairman of this commission. It not only prepares plans for the country but also coordinates the sectored development works of different ministries of the central government, states, and union territories. The functions of the planning commission are supervised through the national development council.
